What Is The Process For A Custom Made Wedding Dress?

Find your "Inspiration" Dress or Dresses. Send us pictures or links (contact@customcouturebridal.com) and we'll quote you on the cost.

Step 2

Customize! Choose your fabric. New! Fabric samples: only $4.99 and refundable when you order your dress. Customize your closure, beading and length of train.

Step 3
|
Place your order. Add your dress to your shopping bag and checkout with the most secure technology available. You can defer up to $500 of the price of your gown until shipping.

Step 4
|
Send us your measurements. We will send you an e-mail form with foolproof instructions.

Your designer wedding dress arrives - fully protected and in beautiful packaging. The whole process takes 10-13 weeks. New! We now have a Rush service available: 5-6 weeks plus 1 week shipping.

Step 1
You are in charge of the first step. This is where you find your inspiration dress, or dresses. This can happen in many ways. If you already know what is flattering on your body type, you can look on the Internet for pictures of dresses that you love.
You are not looking for something perfect as-is, but a dress that can be tweaked or combined with another dress to be the ONE. This is where your imagination comes into play, so take your time and have fun with it! The elements you want to think about are:
- The overall shape of the dress. The classic categories are: Ballgown (think Cinderella), A-line (slim at hips and flares gradually, Slim-line (think classic evening gown), and Mermaid (flared somewhere between lower hip and knee).
- The fabric. Have a look at our fabric and color guide for more information.
- The neckline. Do you want a strapless dress? Thin straps? Halter straps? A classic sheath with shoulder straps?
- The type of skirt. Do you like a smooth, classic skirt? Texture and layering with pick-ups?
When you have a good idea of what you want, e-mail us (contact@customcouturebridal.com) with links or attachments of your inspiration dress or dresses. You can also fill out our on-site quote request form. We will respond within 1 business day with a quote. By e-mailing us you will automatically create a private "page" on our site that captures all communication back and forth and an area that captures all attached images either from yourself or from us. It's like having your own couture service with instant access to infinite sources of inspiration to draw from at your fingertips!
Step 2
Here is where you choose the finishing details of our dress that have not already been clarified in Step 1.
- The fabric
- The color
- The length of train, if any
- The type of hem
- The straps
If your gown is a completely custom design, this is the step where your Design Sketch will be done. We will make you a customized page on the site including your gown's sketch, the detailed specifications and the price.
Step 3
Once you have chosen your options, click the "Add To Cart" button on your gown's page. Add anything else you may want to your Shopping Cart at the same time (accessories, for instance). Click the Checkout button and use our SSL secured checkout page to pay either with PayPal or your credit card. New! You can defer $500 of the price of your gown until shipping. We will let you know when your wedding dress is ready to ship. Click the link we will send you to take care of the balance, and you will receive your gown's tracking number shortly thereafter. We want there to be as little as possible between you and your dream wedding dress!
Step 4
We will send you a confirmation of your order as soon as we receive it. A short while later we will send you our foolproof Measurement Form for you to complete and return to us. For a heads-up on what the form looks like, click here.
What happens once you submit your order?
Here is a break down of the 10-13 week time-frame it takes from when you order until your gown arrives at your door.
As you can see, you have some control over the timing: the faster you can give us your measurements, the faster we can get started!

We notify you via e-mail every step of the way so you can keep track of your wedding gown's progress. And of course you get a tracking number as soon as your gown is ready for shipping!
Step 5

Your dress will arrive looking like the ultimate gift it is. It will be carefully folded and stuffed with tissue paper using similar techniques that wedding gown preservationists use. We then place it in a dry-cleaners bag. It is then further folded and packed in a gift box or bag depending on the size.
Beautiful organza ribbon is the finishing touch before being placed in the reinforced shipping box.
You will receive cotton gloves to protect your dress when you put it on, a wedding dress storage bag and hanger free of charge. |
